The fifth 40′ shipping container is now the bathroom block containing showers, toilets, sinks for 40 young men at Grace Bible College as well as a separate section for women as they attend the nearby GBC Chapel services.
The Lord has allowed us to see five shipping containers go from drawing plans on paper and chalk on the dirt, to being ordered, refurbished and transformed into two dormitories and a bathroom block in 20 days! This also includes two septic in-ground tanks, electricity and water lines, windows, lights, fans and flooring! Thank you for praying and giving to see this dream turn into reality. Praise God! The pictures below reflect the 20 day epic journey and transformation. I was in India for three weeks to oversee this work.

The excitement was intense as we received phone calls on the progress of the first Grace Bible College dormitory building making its way from Mumbai to Amravati on a trailer pulled behind a lorry (Indian semi-truck). Then the call came that the transport had been stopped just outside of town. It had arrived during the “No Entry” rule (certain times of the day when freight transports aren’t allowed through town). We jumped in the van and sure enough – there was the lorry on the side of the road. The temperature was just over 102 and the wind was hot. But that could not stop us from checking out what we had long awaited!
As the time was completed and we started to make our way, the Road Traffic Officers from each department came to stop the progress as taxes needed to be paid and permissions given. At last, with final clearances in hand, we made our way in a convoy of the lorry (with half of a dormitory on its back), and several cars and motorcycles to the Grace Bible College property.
Within a matter of an hour, the building that had been a shipping container, was placed, leveled, and transformed by its new location, to become the first dormitory for Grace Bible College. Then as the week continued, the second building came (in two pieces) and it too was transformed.
Within 20 days, this project has gone from lines on paper to real dorms with windows and doors, flooring, lights, fans, and functional bathrooms and showers; now prepared to receive the first 40 boys for school the next semester!
How can I describe my feelings? I’m filled with a mixture of overwhelming gratitude to the Lord and to each of you who have shared to make this project a reality. Words cannot describe the sense of awe at what has been accomplished…. Yes, there are still needs and the next phase of buildings is needed, but the goal to get the school on the campus has been accomplished. How I praise the Lord for this 11 year answer to prayer.
The sun broke bright and warm over the dry country side….when all of a sudden the crowd gathered broke the stillness with the shout… “Prabhu Ut-lah Aahe!!! Kharokahr Ut-lah Aahe!!! HE HAS RISEN, HE HAS RISEN INDEED!!!!!” Startled birds took flight from the hill opposite the rooftop we were meeting on.
My mind wandered across this great land of India that has been recipient of the greatest message ever known to mankind since before the end of the first century. Thomas, the Apostle was tasked with sharing the Gospel to India. Through the centuries, the Word of God has taken deep root into this land that the Lord loves.
I also think of the centuries of outreach into this place of deep and great need… and the new churches planted as the result of IM over the last almost two decades of ministry….I think of one young man who is now a lawyer for the High Court in Nagpur, who trusted Christ as his Savior. Because of your participation, there are thousands of more voices who have taken up the cry HE HAS RISEN!!!!!! and in that, a matchless and priceless redemption has been accomplished. – Dr. John Cook
Resurrection Sunday was a day of firsts! It was the first Easter Sunday to be celebrated by the congregation of the Amravati Baptist Church, that meets in the Memorial Chapel on Sunday morning. There was such a sense of excitement as each one entered into the new facility. The chapel literally sparkled as this day of all days was celebrated.
I had the privilege of assuring the message entitled,”The Empty Promises of Easter.” Talking about the empty cross, empty tomb, and the empty grave clothes as Jesus Christ our Lord rose from the dead.
As the service concluded, the excitement grew, as seven young people stepped into the room pastor Himmat, and Pastor John stepped into the baptism tank. This was the first Baptism to take place in the new building.
I had the privilege of watching as each one of them had taken baptism class from me, meeting three days in preparation for this step. One to be baptized was our granddaughter, Halina. As each one followed the Lord through the waters of baptism, There was such joy in their hearts as they have been obedient to the call of the Lord in their lives.
The service was concluded with partaking of the Communion Service. For Hali and the 6 others, it was their first communion and she shared later that all that I had share with her in the class was brought to mind as she celebrated along with us, the Risen Savior. Seven more Christ followers have taken their place in the family of believers that we belong to.
