Fresh Look for the New School Year
As the new school year begins, we’re excited to share a fresh new look for the GBC campus.

Battling the Elements on Campus
While we don’t battle against flesh and blood, we do battle the relentless Indian sun and monsoon rains. These elements wreak havoc on man, beast, and buildings alike—making a campus facelift necessary. Maintenance is costly and only becomes more expensive if we allow the elements too much time to do their damage.

Repairs in Progress
The photos below show current work on several buildings, including the library, the chapel, and the shipping containers. Of particular note is the six-step process used in painting the chapel: scraping and repairing, applying a powder base coat, buffing, priming, then adding both the first and second coats of paint.

Next Up: Dining Hall Refurbishment
Next month, we will begin much-needed repairs to the open-air dining hall. Crews will re-float the concrete floor, repair the pony (half) walls, and plaster and paint them. They’ll also refresh the hand-washing station.

Replacing Chapel Chairs
The heat has taken a toll on our chairs—many are cracking or breaking. We’re replacing them to prevent future injuries (our apologies again, Craig Miller, for the chair that failed you!).

Why These Repairs Matter
Looking to the future, several new buildings are needed. However, before we begin construction, it was vital to address the current structures. Their condition had discouraged some parents from allowing their students to attend on-campus classes—and we couldn’t let that continue.
