Backpacks for Children in Northern Iraq: Help Us Share Hope

Backpacks for children in Northern Iraq are more than school supplies—they’re a message of hope and dignity to families who have endured war, displacement, and loss.

Through Indigenous Ministries’ Child Sponsorship Program, refugee children are given tools they need to return to school. Many of these kids come from Syrian, Iraqi, and Sudanese refugee families who have lost nearly everything. For them, something as simple as a backpack filled with school supplies means they can walk into the classroom with confidence and pride.

These backpacks help keep children in school, provide structure in their lives, and offer a tangible reminder that they are seen, loved, and not forgotten. They are also a meaningful outreach tool—this year we’re expanding our reach to include two new areas in Northern Iraq, where even more children will be reached through this effort.

Each backpack is carefully prepared with notebooks, pens, and essential materials to help children succeed in school and life. And each one is distributed through local churches and ministry teams, sharing the love of Christ in a practical, life-giving way.
