Backpacks for Refugee Children: Help Us Reach New Villages in Iraq

Our Backpack and School Supplies Fundraiser is back, and this outreach continues to be one of the most impactful ways we can serve refugee children in the Middle East.

Because of your generous support last year, every child in our Child Sponsorship Program received a backpack filled with essential school supplies. Thank you for making that possible.

This year, we have a special opportunity—and we’re asking for your help once again.

Two New Villages Are Waiting

A recent trip to Iraq included meetings with our teams, pastors, and local officials. Indigenous Ministries was personally thanked for the work being done among refugee children and their families. Since 2003, our ministry in Iraq has been closely observed by national leaders, and now two new villages are requesting our help.

We are beginning outreach in these communities by distributing backpacks for refugee children filled with school supplies. This approach has proven effective, building trust while meeting practical and emotional needs. The door is open—but we need your help to walk through it.

Why This Matters More Than Ever

This year’s goal is $50,000—our largest yet. Every $85 backpack provides a child with the tools needed to stay in school and avoid dangerous alternatives.

Without access to education, refugee children face increased risk of:

Early marriage
Substance abuse
Sex trafficking
Militia and terrorist recruitment

School offers stability, healing, and a chance to dream again.
