Being Grateful is a Choice

Being grateful is a choice. As much as I love seeing the words thankful and gather splashed on church bulletins and front door signs, in a few weeks the annual gratefulness re-awakening will reluctantly exit stage right, Christmas marketing extravaganzas already over-crowding the stage. I rather enjoy the warm colors of soft browns, golds and burgundies mingled with apple cinnamon scented candles and thanksgiving blessings and prayers. Maybe you agree that we can put off trimming the Christmas tree for a little bit, but let’s just linger with falling leaves and most especially, being grateful…

Sunsets in India, where I currently sit typing this, are beautiful! Breathtaking golds, magentas, blues and violets light up the skies over villages and farms framed by tree silhouettes. These scenes for decades captivated John’s heart and mine, and we often oohed and aawed in sync in gratefulness as skies blazed. With a little observation, it’s obvious that gratefulness is a high priority of Gods. In human-speak we judge that kind of egocentric praise as socially over-reaching, but our God literally is the center of it all. He deserves all our praise, awe and gratefulness. Below are some wonderful Bible verses highlighting reasons to be grateful to God in life’s moments big or small, and most specially as we trim our Christmas tree. I am so grateful to God for you!

Blessings and love, Dee
