From Loss to Love: Egyptian Children Find Family Through Sponsorship

Goneer never knew her father, who passed away before she was born. A few years later, her mother remarried, but Goneer was forced to leave her mother because her new stepfather didn’t want the responsibility of raising her. Her maternal grandparents took her in, but living without the love and security of her parents began to leave a deep void in her life.

Our teams were given her name as a recommendation for the Child Sponsorship Program. Once a place opened up, she was enrolled, and they began working with her bit by bit. Goneer began responding to their kindness and love, and then she began going to Sunday school—she had found a family that loved and cared for her. The ministry has been helping with her grandparents with her practical needs of food and school supplies, but more importantly, she’s been introduced her to Jesus Christ whom she’s trusted with all her heart. She learned how to read her new Bible, and began growing in her faith. Goneer is a fourth grader and is doing much better in school, attends Sunday school and is thriving – because of love. When asked what the ministry means to her, Goneer simply says, “This ministry has become like a father and a mother to me—the parents I miss so much.” Thank you for helping make Goneer’s life-change possible through your prayers and faithful partnership.
