Grace Bible College Student Ministry Update Amid India’s Election Season

The 2023–24 school year has brought challenges, especially with the loss of our beloved Dr. Cook. Yet God is faithful, and we continue our relationship with Indigenous Ministries through Miss Dee. We’ve seen our students grow spiritually and academically. Many are now focused on full-time ministry after completing their studies—praise God!

Student Exams and Ministry Practicum

Recently, students completed their final exams and are now preparing for their ministry practicums. This hands-on ministry experience is a vital part of their education at Grace Bible College.

However, this year’s practicum will look different. India’s parliamentary elections are scheduled for April and May. Due to this, the Election Commission has enforced the Code of Conduct, which restricts public gatherings, religious events, and group activities. As a result, students are not permitted to serve in groups or outside church walls. They can, however, continue ministry work within their local churches and Christian organizations.

Looking Ahead to June and Beyond

In June, students will be free to engage more actively in ministry under the supervision of our Ministry Coordinator. Faculty mem

bers will also join them during this time to provide guidance and encouragement. We expect all students to return to campus in the first week of July to begin a new term.

What Is India’s Election Code of Conduct?

During the election season in India, the government enforces a strict code of conduct to maintain public order and prevent misuse of power. Key restrictions include:

• No public gatherings without police permission

• No religious propagation or campaigning

• No carrying cash above ₹50,000 when leaving home

• No groups of more than five people in public areas

Places of worship like churches are exempt from these restrictions.
