METC June Module Update – Doing Something New with Something Old

The METC June Module update highlights the legacy of faithful ministry, the challenges faced this year, and the new plans underway to continue training young men and women for ministry in Iraq. This update also includes important short‑term missions opportunities and an urgent funding need for the METC program.

A Legacy Rooted in Faithfulness

My beloved late husband John’s grandfather, Dr. Bill Cook, was a veteran missionary of 32 years in India and later a theology and missions professor at Western Seminary. Occasionally a curious young student would ask him, “What’s new in theology, Dr. Cook?” And he would reply, “Same old thing! Thankfully God hasn’t changed, and neither has His Word.”

I love that. And that wonderful “same old thing” is exactly what Middle East Theological College in Iraq is all about — training young men and women for a lifetime of ministry built on the solid foundation of the same old, wonderful Word of God.

METC June Module – Pressing Forward

War took out March’s module, and I reluctantly cancelled that session. But we’ve dug in for June — dog-with-a-bone stuff. We just can’t let it go, because there is so much at stake. I credit Craig Miller, Austin Surls, our amazing Iraq team, and our faithful donors for the determination to press ahead.

And press ahead we will — with something new. We’ll be taking students and teachers to an undisclosed location in the region for next month’s module. We’d ask for your prayers for the many details involved in making that happen safely and well.
