NEW IRAQ MINISTRY CTR BUSY THIS SUMMER

Near Mosul, Iraq – Remember last year when we asked you to pray with us for a ministry center outside of Mosul? You prayed and then generously gave finances and God opened the doors. Truly, it’s amazing! Yes, we had a number of obstacles – a couple were big! But God is so faithful and here we are today! Each week this summer children flooded in and out of the center enjoying Bible lessons, games, songs, films, healthy snacks. I am so proud of our teams led by Mryana that worked hard in training, preparation and then each and every meeting with the children. Thank you, donors and sponsors for being part of the IM team so this could all happen! This is an excerpt from a report the team leader there, Marvin, shared:

“The Bible lesson was different this time. We took them to the New Testament, where the children sat in amazing attention as they listened to Jesus’ call to Peter and Andrew. Their eyes sparkled with every word, as if the story wasn’t just a fable, but a reality they were living. The children learned how Peter and Andrew left their nets and boat and followed the Lord without hesitation, and how their hearts were obedient and loving. Through this lesson, each child shared what they would like to give up in order to follow Jesus: some said staying up late, others said the phone, and others said they would give up their anger. They even emphasized their desire to obey their parents, as the Lord has commanded us.

When we asked them a question about the similarities to the previous stories, they quickly recalled the story of God’s call to Samuel, and how the Lord called Samuel just as Jesus called Peter and Andrew.

One of the most beautiful moments that touched our hearts was when many of the children shared their desire to become fishers of people, preaching the Word of God, carrying the story they had learned and passing it on to their families and friends, to be a light among those far from the light of the Gospel. Their simple yet sincere words made us certain that the Lord’s work had begun to bear fruit in their young lives, making a great difference.”
