Remembering Dr. John W. Cook: Celebration of Life Service

John W. Cook CEO of Indigenous Ministries was a man of faith, adventure, and service. Born in Wisconsin in 1957, John grew up in a missionary family, spending much of his childhood in the Philippines, Sri Lanka and Hawaii. Despite the challenges and trauma he faced as a child on the mission field, John’s faith in God remained strong, and he felt called to ministry from a young age.

On March 30, 2023, the Lord called Dr. Cook home to heaven as he was serving in Iraq. The Indigenous Ministries team and medical teams worked feverishly to save his life but were unable to do so. God had other plans. While we don’t understand the suddenness of God’s plan, we do trust in His sovereign will and are grateful for Dr. Cook’s life.

Memorial services were held for Dr. Cook in Iraq, Egypt and India. On April 21, his Celebration of Life Service was held in Monument, Colorado.

Dr. Cook’s favorite life verse was Ephesians 2:10, “For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” ESV

Indigenous Ministries is continuing on as he envisioned, with nationals reaching nationals with the gospel of Jesus Christ in India, Egypt and Iraq. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to in his honor by clicking HERE.
