VETERANS’ LONG WAIT IS OVER

“Dear Janet,

Blessings to you in the name of Christ our Lord… I have prayed for many, many, many years about the ability to reach into your country and support a child such as yourself through a Christian organization like this one. I pray that we get many years being able to talk with you and pray for you and your family…”

This letter was written by a new child sponsor—one of our own U.S. veterans who served multiple tours in Iraq. He and his wife both served in Baghdad, Mosul, and other parts of the country during the war, walking those same streets and protecting civilians. Years later, with six children of their own, they now pray for a young girl named Janet. She lives in the very region where they and so many others sacrificed so much.

Their story is a powerful reminder that child sponsorship is not only about giving—it’s about connection, restoration, and legacy.

From Military Service to Ministry Impact

This week, the sponsor’s heartfelt letter to Janet deeply touched me. As many of you know, our son John also served in Afghanistan for two and a half years. He and his wife Nicole joined me in Iraq last October, and like this veteran, John felt a deep and immediate connection with the children and families there.

These are not just stories—they are living testimonies of how God continues to bring healing and purpose through the faithfulness of those who have served. We are deeply thankful for the men and women who sacrifice for freedom and who continue to serve through prayer, generosity, and compassion.
