Stories of Changed Lives in the Child Sponsorship Program

Youssef has grown up in our program and is now has a cutting edge barber career.
From no future to a barber: Youssef entered our Child Sponsorship Program in 2017 when ISIS was ravaging Iraq, and he and his family lost everything. He, like millions of other children, had no chance at a normal childhood because of the war. We took him in, and its been a joy to watch him grow up experiencing the love and care of our teams and his sponsor. While in school, he decided he wanted to be a barber, asked us for assistance, and we were able to provide a scholarship for vocational training. He also began attended our youth meetings and grew leaps and bounds in his faith in Christ. When METC (Middle East Theological College) began recently, he asked if he could attend. Today he works long hours as a barber and is strengthening his foundation of faith at METC.

Sarah’s life has been totally transformed by God’s love! Below, Nardeen asked if she could join the youth meeting. We said “yes!”
Sarah is one of the first kids who came into our Child Sponsorship Program in 2017. She is a refugee from an area near Mosul, and as a result of ISIS, her family lost everything, was driven from their home and lived in a refugee camp for years. Their lives were totally turned upside down. ISIS meant it for evil but God has changed what ISIS did to the glory of God in her life. Her life is now once again turned upside down, but this time in the right direction!
Joelle is from Syria. When she came to N. Iraq with her family, it was only after they had each suffered many losses. She was a deep wounded young girl and when someone spoke to her, she would smile but would tremble with fear because of the trauma that she’d suffered. The past four years have transferred her life; Joelle has been attending our children’s and youth meetings and also began training with our youth leadership team. She has excelled in working with the smaller children and exudes a joy that’s contagious.

Joelle has gone through many challenges as a refugee, and has had countless reasons to give up on life, yet has a growing, thriving faith.

These are a few of the hundreds of stories of God’s amazing grace and power to heal. Each of these young people have come to know God in a personal way and are enthusiastic about their future, as am I! I hope you’ve been encouraged by their lives. Join me, won’t you, in doing something about changing the future of this region. Sponsorships with Indigenous Ministries work; please sponsor a child today. Blessings in Christ, Dee
