Youth Leadership Training

This picture was taken in May in IMI’s Kurdistan, Iraq office with our summer Bible Classes Team Teachers. Mryana, front left, is the Child Sponsorship Coordinator for Kurdistan.

Indigenous Ministries teams are training teens throughout the Middle East in our Child Sponsorship Program for their future with several paths:

  • Bible training for teaching and discipleship: Each year a number of our teens go through a month’s training and preparation and for teaching the young children Bible lessons, share how to make crafts and memorize scripture.
  • Middle East Theological College: Teens are attending IM’s fully accredited Bible college meeting in our Ministry Center in North Iraq.
  • Visitation: Throughout the year our teams take some of the older teens visiting families in refugee camps or in villages, training them in ministry.
  • Churches: Our pastors depend on our teens to assist with teaching children in church Sunday school or in the church service with music and food distribution to the poor. This gives a taste of full time ministry which some are considering.
  • Camps: Our teens assist with leading younger children in summer camps.
  • Vocational training: For some, we assist in practical vocational training to begin a trade. Soon we will offer more classes in our ministry center in Erbil.*
  • Higher education: Some of our youth who are top of their class with grades qualify for entry to college or university. We offer scholarships on a limited basis; again, often sponsors offer to help their sponsored kids. *

Every one of these teens were either traumatized by ISIS in the Nineveh Plain or in Syria, or in Egypt, were raised by single impoverished mothers in Egypt (teens in pink shirts). They are now strong, confident young men and women who love the Lord, are growing in Christ and are proud of being part of the Indigenous Ministries teams.

Meet a few of our other youth in leadership training: Far left photo: Warshan (stripes) from Iraq and Louis from Syria. Middle photo: Keroles from Egypt, and right photo: Marena, Hannah, Ereny and Ayda, all from Upper Nile, Egypt.

Thank you, Lord, thank you, Indigenous Ministries teams, thank you, sponsors! We are all VERY proud of each of them and all the others who are not on this page but are also striving for excellence!

*Often sponsors are eager to help pay for this training and we welcome their involvement!
